When installing K Type Pipe Fittings, the tightness and stability of their connection structure rely heavily on the precise operation of special tools. Tools must be matched according to the fitting material and connection method. The core special tools can be divided into the following categories:
1. Crimping/Ring Crimping Special Tools: Core Sealing and Forming Tools
K Type Pipe Fittings mostly use "crimping" or "ring crimping" processes to achieve sealing, requiring special tools to press the fittings and pipes together to form a rigid seal:
· Manual crimping pliers: Suitable for small-diameter K Type Pipe Fittings, divided into integral and split types. They apply pressure through the lever principle to make the grooves of the fitting interfaces tightly engage with the pipes, ensuring no gaps on the sealing surface.
· Electric/hydraulic crimping tools: Designed for large-diameter or high-strength material K Type Pipe Fittings. Driven by motors or hydraulics, they generate stable pressure, enabling precise control of crimping force and depth to avoid uneven pressure caused by manual operation.
· Ring crimping dies: Used in conjunction with crimping tools. Dies of corresponding sizes must be selected based on the specifications of K Type Pipe Fittings to ensure a standard hexagonal or circular sealing structure is formed after crimping, preventing sealing failure due to mismatched dies.
2. Pipe Preprocessing Tools: Ensuring the Precision of Connection Foundations
Before installation, the pipe ends need to be processed to ensure proper fit tolerance with K Type Pipe Fittings:
· Pipe cutters/pipe cutting machines: Used for cutting pipes. They must ensure flat cuts without burrs to prevent burrs from piercing the fitting seals or causing uneven force during crimping. Manual pipe cutters are suitable for small-diameter pipes, while electric pipe cutting machines are used for large-diameter or hard pipes.
· Deburring tools: Used to deburr the inner and outer walls of pipe cuts, removing sharp edges. This prevents scratches on the sealing rubber rings inside the fittings during installation and facilitates smooth insertion of pipes into the fitting sockets.
· Gauges/calipers: These tools are used to measure the outer diameter of pipes, wall thickness, and the depth of fitting sockets. They ensure proper size matching between pipes and K Type Pipe Fittings, preventing loose or tight fits that can impact crimping results.
3. Auxiliary Positioning and Testing Tools: Ensuring Installation Compliance
· Marking pens/marking tapes: Before inserting pipes into fittings, mark the insertion position according to the depth of the fitting socket to ensure the pipe is fully inserted in place.
· Seal testing tools: After installation, tightness verification is required. Common tools include manual pressure test pumps or electric pressure test equipment. By pressurizing to the rated pressure and maintaining the pressure for more than 30 minutes, leaks are detected.
· Crimping quality detectors: For high-pressure or critical working conditions, specialized instruments, such as ultrasonic detectors, are utilized to verify the dimensional accuracy of crimped components and the fit of sealing surfaces, ensuring that the crimping results comply with established standards.
4. Auxiliary Tools for Special Scenarios
· Fitting fixing frames: When installing large-diameter K-Type pipe fittings, use this method to secure the fittings and pipes. This prevents eccentric crimping caused by component movement during the crimping process.
· Heating tools: If K Type Pipe Fittings are made of plastic materials such as PPR or PE, hot-melt butt-joint tools or heat guns are required. Before connection, the fitting sockets and pipe ends are preheated to ensure tight bonding after hot melting.
Different brands of K Type Pipe Fittings may have specific requirements for tool specifications. Before installation, check the fitting instructions to ensure the tools match the fitting models.
